Goldman Forum Student Scholarships for International Reporting

Four students, Chris Raphael, Robin Shulman, Jason Felch and Garance Burke were awarded travel scholarships for international reporting trips.

Shulman traveled to Israel to cover the Seam Line Project, a massive security fence in the northern West Bank and around parts of Jerusalem, intended to separate Israelis and Palestinians. She explored life on the shifting borderlines between Israelis and Palestinians, as new fences are built, old walls crumble and changing boundaries redefine two people's sense of home. Burke traveled to Chiapas to work on a story about growing village-level violence. Frontline/World’s Web site is carrying their stories.

Raphael and Felch went to Peru to examine whether U.S. oil companies and the Peruvian government developed the Camisea gas field in the heart of the Amazon rainforest with respect for human rights and international law. Their work will also be featured on Frontline/World’s Web site and National Public Radio. The Tucson Citizen and the Gannett News Service are also publishing their articles.

Three other students, Diana Ferrero, Melissa Nix, and Marton Dunai were awarded travel scholarships for international reporting trips.
