Jason Jaacks is a visual storyteller focused on social and environmental issues. His work exists at the intersection of documentary film, photography and web-based storytelling. His projects have documented spoken word culture among Native American youth, militarization of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, and the effects of a toxic river in Mexico. His has collaborated with PBS/POV, Tribeca Film Institute, and the Mozilla Foundation. In 2012, Jason became National Geographic Explorer for “Return to Elwha.” The web-based documentary explores the largest dam removal in U.S. history and the return of salmon to the Elwha River. He is the founder of SplitFrame Media and calls the San Francisco Bay Area home.
