Project Management for Community Events Platform
PortlandTalks
Category: New MediaLocation: Portland
State: Oregon
Duration of Position: 2 months
Description:
I'm looking for a part-time intern for PortlandTalks. The site -- which collects lectures and other education-based event from around the city, -- went live a few months ago and has been growing steadily since. But I'll be leaving for New York and am looking for someone to get involved from pdx.
The project is still in its early stages, but I'm open to a future revenue or equity agreement for the right candidate after the initial trail period.
The ideal candidate will posses strong writing skills, an interest in lectures and events happening around Portland, and a deep understanding of how to cultivate and build out a social media (Facebook & Twitter) presence. This may be a good opportunity for a undergrad or grad student in PR/Communications, Journalism and/or Business, as you'll be learning how to publish on a WordPress site, and use a multitude of techniques to build relationships and drive traffic to our content.
Experience:
Besides occasional meetings, all work will be done wirelessly, with an expected 3-6 hours of work a week. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: updating events, corresponding with sponsoring organizations, curating the Featured Talks section, laying out the weekly newsletter, and updating event info on our social media channels. I'm also fine with this being an afternoon/weekend project for someone wanting to gain experience while juggling a full-time job.
